Michelin resmi gantikan Bridgestone di MotoGP 2016

Dorna akhir mengumunkan Michelin akan menggantikan Bridgestone sebagai pemasok tunggal ban MotoGP mulai musim 2016 seiring dengan berakhirnya kontrak Bridgestone. Michelin terpilih setelah bersaing ketat dengan beberapa pabrikan ban lainnya seperti Pirelli dan Dunlop.

Michelin merupakan pemasok ban asal Prancis yang terakhir kali mensupplai ban untuk MotoGP di musim 2007 sebelum pemberlakuan "one make tire" musim 2008 yang ditentang oleh Michelin karena akan menurunkan aura kompetisi.

Sebelumnya Michelin pernah mengantarkan Valentino Rossi (Yamaha Factory Racing) dan Nicky Hayden (Repsol Honda) juara dunia MotoGP. Menarik untuk melihat pengaruh terhadap motor dan pembalap yang akan memakai Michelin. Bridgestone musim 2007 juga sukses mengantar Casey Stoner yang menunggangi Ducati menjadi juara dunia.

Jadi mari kita tunggu musim 2016 apakah Yamaha dan Honda akan kembali berjaya dengan Michelin berdasarkan pengalaman yang sebelumnya atau Ducati beserta Suzuki yang akan kembali dimusim 2015 yang belum pengalaman memakai Michelin karena sebelumnya adalah pemakai Bridgestone.

Michelin to become MotoGP™ Official Tyre supplier

Following French tyre manufacturer Michelin’s official tender, Dorna is pleased to announce that Michelin is to become the Official Tyre Supplier to MotoGP™ as of the 2016 World Championship season.

At the beginning of May 2014 Dorna, in agreement with the FIM, opened a tender for tyre manufacturers interested in becoming Official Tyre Supplier to MotoGP™ from the 2016 season.

Interested tyre manufacturers were able to request the technical specifications from Dorna’s Managing Director Javier Alonso, with three potential tyre suppliers initially expressing an interest – before Michelin alone made a formal tender before the 22nd May deadline.

The next step in the process will be the drawing out of a commercial agreement between Dorna and Michelin as Official Tyre Supplier, Michelin having already clearly proven its technical abilities to respond to the needs of a demanding Grand Prix racing schedule.
